SEO Objections: What Holds Companies Back from Investing In SEO

Over the years we’ve heard many objections by a variety of businesses objecting to moving forward with an SEO.

We thought we’d put a few together for you (who may have the same thoughts) so that you can get a greater understanding of just how important SEO should be as a sales & marketing funnel for your business when it comes to lead generation.

“It takes too long to see any results”

Anything worthwhile, takes time. SEO is not a ‘get rich quick’ scheme that will guarantee overnight success. In fact, it typically takes around 8 to 12 months to start seeing results. So you should see this as a mid to long term strategy.

So why bother with it then? Well, let’s ask you a different question: Do you plan on still having your website and business in 12 months time? In 5 years time? Longer? Of course you do!

Laying a foundation today, will produce a consistent stream of new enquiries for your business on an ongoing basis. Even though you’ll probably only start seeing results in a few months time, when they do start, they generally continue, unabated, and grow. That is the nature of SEO.

Owning and running a business is much like  like running a marathon, it takes planning, perseverance and patience. The same applies to SEO.

If you go into it without a proper strategy and programme it’s likely that its going to fail. However, if you use a tried and tested strategy, chances are you will succeed.

Search engines like Google, will only rank your business highly if you put in the necessary technical work and continue to meet their standards. But when you do start getting good rankings and those new leads start coming in, boy oh boy is it worth it!

“It’s too complicated”

Undoubtedly there are multiple different factors that you’ll need to consider when compiling an SEO strategy. However, that doesn’t mean you should put off SEO completely. After all, if it were easy, everyone would be doing it!

But that’s what we’re here for: To do what we do best (getting your business found on Google), while you do what you do best (filling the new business orders that will start coming in from the SEO results we will attain for you, in time.

“I’ll have to change my entire website”

If you’re starting a brand new SEO campaign, then it’s more than likely that you’ll have to make tweaks to your existing website. These range from simple backend technical things to update your existing website so that it’s in-line with the latest trends.

However, regardless of the platform on which your website has been created, this process should be able to be done relatively easily by SEO professionals, it’s just quicker on some platforms than others.

“It keeps changing”

It’s true, search engines are constantly updating their algorithms to keep up with the ever-changing technological landscape. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that all your hard work has been for nothing.

Ultimately, these changes are made so that good practitioners of SEO stand out over those who use misleading and black hat methods. If the best SEO practices always stayed the same, then it would inevitably be open for abuse. By keeping on top of the latest trends and developments, as your SEO partner, we’ll ensure that you stay one step ahead of the curve. competitors to get an edge over you.

“We’re already rank top of Google when you search for our name”

While this might be true, it’s only customer’s who already know about you, that will be searching using your name. Don’t you want NEW customers that DON’T KNOW YOUR NAME and are searching fro the products and/or services you have to offer, using keywords?

Think about when you’re searching for something on Google? If its a big brand company, then yes, you might use their name. But if it’s a builder, plumber, car dealer, what ever, you generally use keywords to search.

And when you do that, those companies who have undertaken SEO on their websites, will come up in the top rankings and one (or maybe more) will get an enquiry from you. The ones who don’t come up, get nothing.

Even if you offer a fairly niche service, it’s worth investing in SEO so that you can make your business more discoverable for potential customers in a much broader geographical location.

IGNORE THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT SEO CAN PROVIDE YOU, AND YOU’RE HANDING YOUR COMPETITORS AN EDGE OVER YOU, ON A PLATTER!

“It’s too expensive”

How much is 1 new client a week worth to your business? What’s the lifetime value of a new client worth?

On the other side of the coin, how much are those missed opportunities costing you?

From piano teachers to plumbers, gravestone makers to gaming vans and everything in between, we’ve added a lot of extra profitability, as well as an ongoing stream of new business to all sorts of businesses throughout the UK.

To us it’s all about ROI (return on investment). We produce a good ROI for our clients and what happens? They stay in business and they generally stay our clients. A healthy win-win scenario.

As the old saying goes ‘Nothing comes from nothing.’ Is there anything truly worthwhile in life that has not had a cost attached to it?
